BreakBeat was a collaborative, speculative magazine project developed with journalist Jack Cohane. Designed as a politically engaged, satirical publication, it aimed to critique the erosion of social common ground and provoke dialogue about collective responsibility and change.
While the project was ultimately paused during the pandemic, it was an important exercise in developing a clear editorial voice, defining a consistent visual language, and exploring design’s role in framing complex, contested issues for accessible, engaging publication.

BREAKBEAT :
A political satire, “Fuck You” energy, magazine. This magazine is the passion project of writer Jack Cohane and myself. We are currently working on our first edition and are still in an experimental stage. This project is an attempt to realise a shared creative vision. It is designed to comment on society and illustrate a possible narrative for the future. At its core it is journalism although it incorporates a number of my digital art pieces and Jack’s creative writings. It is designed to be a showcase of our ideological beliefs as well as our skills. What follows is a research/process blog of our process:
