Don Bosco Curriculum Development

DBTSS, 2025

Curriculum Developer, Teacher, Mentor

At Don Bosco Secondary School in Papua New Guinea, I developed and delivered a new Graphic Design and Digital Drafting curriculum aimed at equipping students aged 16 to 25 with practical, industry-relevant skills. This involved designing and leading workshops for classes of 30 to 60 students, blending design theory with hands-on, project-based learning that encouraged creative problem-solving and critical thinking.

I worked closely with local teachers to build their capacity, mentoring them in lesson delivery, developing adaptable teaching resources, and embedding culturally relevant, community-led approaches that respected local contexts and priorities. Adapting to limited infrastructure and diverse student backgrounds, I focused on making design education accessible, engaging, and sustainable. The program was developed in partnership with VSA Aotearoa to ensure alignment with broader community development goals and to strengthen local educational pathways in creative and technical fields.

Responsibilities

Curriculum development, Workshop delivery, Teacher mentoring, Educational resource design, Student engagement through hands-on projects, Adaptation of content to local resources, Capacity building, Culturally relevant program design, Collaboration with VSA Aotearoa, Support for sustainable, community-led education initiatives.
