Transition KSA:
Transition Kingston School of Art
“We are a community of designers, creators and changemakers. We believe that the initiatives and practices of our Art School should be recognised more widely, to consolidate what we already do and foster an integral culture of sustainability within the University.”
K.S.A. is responsible for its own environmental foot-print as well as the brain-print that it leaves on its students,
Environmental Foot-print:
* The direct impact a human activity has on the environment.
Environmental Brain- Print:
* The indirect impact a person/company/activity has on the environment by influencing others.
To respond to this responsibility, I built a campaign that petitions systematic change starting at a university level. As of this year, KSA is internationally recognised as the first School of Art in Transition.
Via Transition KSA:
▪ We can better promote the work that our University does with its local communities
▪ We can enable more opportunities for students and staff to collaborate on sustainability projects
▪ We can demonstrate the value of real-world learning and practice-based research in response to ‘wicked’ social and environmental problems
▪ We can become a focus point for the changing nature of interdisciplinary practice at KSA and in the wider world
▪ We can connect KSA’s strong and diverse community of creatives with a global network of changemakers
Transition Design acknowledges that we are living in ‘transitional times,’ takes as its central premise the need for societal transition (systems-level change) to more sustainable futures, and argues that design and designers have a key role to play in these transitions. This kind of design is connected to long horizons of time and compelling visions of sustainable futures and must be based upon new knowledge and skill sets.
Transition KSA signifies a long-term commitment to the continued development of our collective capacity for design-led societal change.

Triple Bottom Line:
The Triple Bottom Line (TBL) is an accounting framework that incorporates three dimensions of performance: social, environmental and financial. This differs from traditional reporting frameworks as it includes ecological (or environmental) and social measures that can be difficult to assign appropriate means of measurement. The TBL dimensions are also commonly called the three Ps: people, planet and profits. The TBL is one of Transition KSA’s primary priciples.
Brand Guidlines:
My primary objective during this campaign was to construct our branding. These guidelines were then deployed across the campaign by all parties. Transition KSA posters that were displayed across the university educating, announcing transition KSA and inviting aspiring members to sign up.
